Just four A's as depicted in the pictures. The rifle has ALL matching dates NOT forced matched except on the receiver which looks like a newer type stamp. Often the meaning is unknown even to the most knowledgeable researchers. However, many are known and they often reveal a lot about the individual rifle. The more commonly encountered markings are shown here with brief explanations of their meanings.Many people today see the Mosin as a "cheap" disposable rifles that is so cheap they justify destroying them on a work bench. What we say here is, that is the same attitude that was prevalent with the k98k Mausers in the 1950 and 60's. Now some of those rifles are worth $1500 and more. Respect the history and the rifle.
