In addition to ex-bourbon barrels a proportion of this elegantly-textured single malt is matured in manzanilla sherry casks that bring hints of sea spray, evoking Sandend Bay’s crescent-shaped beach. 700ml / 50.5% ABV.
This Sandend bottling is one of three new single malts for Glenglassaugh in the relaunch of its core portfolio. The coastal single malt was matured in three different casks: bourbon, sherry, and Manzanilla casks. Like all single malts in its portfolio, the casks were matured in coastal warehouses overlooking Sandend Bay. Glenglassaugh Distillery is situated on the north coast of Scotland, perched upon high ground overlooking the North Sea. The whisky is often described as a “coastal” Highland malt, which seems a fair assessment.
